IT GETS WORSE handelt, als eine Art Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde-Erzählung, von einem Seefahrer, dessen Hodensack sich zu monströsen Proportionen aufbläst, als sein tödliches Alter Ego Besitz von ihm ergreift. Der Filmemacher wurde von einer Geschichte, die sein Grossvater ihm erzählte, inspiriert: Auf einer Reise nach Brasilien begegnete dieser einem Mann, der unter Elephantiasis litt und dessen Hoden so sehr anwuchsen, dass er sie in einer Schubkarre umherfahren musste. Das Unglaubliche an Childrees respektlosen, halluzinatorischen Werken ist, dass er sie selbst schreibt, Regie führt, produziert und darin spielt. Diese Unvollkommenheit ist ein starkes Konzept in Childrees Kunst. Es entsteht eine direkte Konfrontation mit dem Zuschauer, der auf die glänzenden Nichtigkeiten der modernen Unterhaltung konditioniert ist.

IT GETS WORSE unfolds the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde-like account of a seafarer whose scrotum blows up to monstrous proportions when his deadly alter ego possesses him. The filmmaker says he was inspired by a story his grandpa once told him about a visit to Brazil, where he encountered a man suffering from elephantiasis, which caused his balls to grow so large he had to cart them around in a wheelbarrow when out on the town. The amazing thing about Childree's irreverent, hallucinatory productions is that he writes, directs, produces, and stars in them. This is a powerful concept in Childree’s art, as it is the small imperfections that make his films special. This feature offers an immediate confrontation to the viewer, who has been conditioned by the polished nothingness that is modern entertainment.
